Trouble in the composed section is quickly forgotten when the band begins the jam in atypical fashion, with incredibly cool playing from Fish offset by uncharacteristic - for the era - effects. Really cool. Stop / start playing becomes more direct, before Trey modifies his tone and the jam passes through a highly improvisational passage, notable for more marked syncopation. A false peak works to set up a fist-pumping relase.
Trey had equipment problems in Simple, so Loving Cup (“I know I play a bad guitar”) was played next. ATR was played for the first time since July 1, 1995 (108 shows) and Axilla was played for the first time since October 16, 1994 (171 shows).
